Water Meters
Nov 10, 2022| Water meters have a history of hundreds of years of development and are a common measurement instrument that people come into contact with in their daily lives. With the diversification of water demand and the emergence of new technologies, the metering performance and usage functions of water meters have been iterated and improved. So, today, Xiao Tai will take you through the types, development direction and latest technology of water meters.
According to the different structures and functions, water meters can be divided into mechanical water meters, intelligent water meters with electronic devices and electronic water meters.

01 Mechanical water meter
Mechanical water meter is a traditional type of water meter, which mainly uses mechanical parts such as impeller or piston to measure flow rate and flow rate, and displays the reading by pointer or word wheel. This kind of water meter is simple in structure, low in cost and widely used, but it also has some disadvantages, such as low accuracy, easy to be affected by dirt and inconvenient in meter reading.
02 Smart water meters with electronic devices
In order to overcome the shortage of mechanical water meters, people began to develop intelligent water meters with electronic devices. This kind of water meter adds some electronic devices to the mechanical water meter, which can realize the functions of data remote transmission, control and prepayment. Smart water meters improve management efficiency and user experience, but still rely on mechanical water meter base meters.

03 Electronic water meters
With the advancement of technology, electronic water meters are gradually appearing. This kind of water meter abandons mechanical rotation structure and adopts modern flowmeter-related technology to measure flow, and displays or transmits data through LCD screen or wireless communication. Electronic water meter has the advantages of high accuracy, long life, strong anti-interference, etc. It has rich functions and is applicable to various complex environments.
Electromagnetic water meter is one kind of electronic water meter. It is an instrument that uses the principle of electromagnetic induction to measure flow, and consists of two main parts: the measuring pipe and the signal converter.
Two electrodes in fixed relative positions and two coils are installed in the measurement pipe. When the fluid passes through, an alternating current is passed in the coils to generate an alternating magnetic field, which induces an induced electric potential in the fluid proportional to the flow rate, and is collected by the two electrodes. The signal converter amplifies the collected induced electromotive force and converts it into a standard signal output proportional to the flow rate.
